RTM lowers the blinds with Oxysign

Globally, 2023 was the hottest year on record. What about 2024?

In terms of both mitigation and adaptation, the response to climate change must be global, with local solutions. In Marseilles, RTM is anticipating overheating in the summer by experimenting with tramway coverings that protect passengers from the heat and sun.

Chosen for our expertise in this type of covering, already deployed for other customers, we proposed a micro-perforated blackout adhesive that lets natural light into the trams while optimising their reflective power, known as albedo.

This reduces the amount of solar energy absorbed by the rolling stock, which in turn limits the amount of heat generated inside, and therefore the need for air conditioning, particularly during heatwaves.

Each of the ten trains tested required 130 m2 of adhesive coating, i.e. 1,300 m2 printed and installed every evening over the course of a week by our teams.
